Q. Where do the Questions and Answers come from?
A. From news stories we’ve been collecting for over 30 years.
Q. How many people can play?
A. You need at least two players to play. We suggest limiting it to four players or teams of players, although, technically, more can play. Probably, 2-8 is a realistic number of players, although you could go as high as 12, I guess, but that’s a lot of people in one room, breathing each other’s air. Think about how many people can fit into the biggest room in your place, before you invite the neighborhood.
Q. How long does a game last?
A. Generally, 20-60 minutes, although it really depends on how many questions you read and answer per game. We suggest 8 questions per game, which takes about 20 minutes, but you can change the number of questions/game, if you wish. We find it more fun to play multiple games of fewer questions, rather than one long game of many questions, but do what makes you happy. Remember, it’s all about
YOU!
Q. Is this a kid-friendly game?
A. We tried to keep it as family-friendly as possible. There are no sexual references or bad words. The only violence is when an adult does something that hurts themself. We don’t laugh at who people are, just what they do, AND, they do some UNBELIEVABLY funny things! Cognitively, it’s designed for ages 10 and up, but a younger child could play with someone older, on a team. Additionally, there are special rules to help level the playing field in order to help kids compete with adults. We want it to be fun for all players.
Q. Does the same person always read the question or is that role passed around the group of players?
A. No. The role of the question reader rotates clockwise, so every player or team will read an equal number of times per game.
Q. What’s the Head Monkey’s favorite color?
A. Corduroy.
Q. What is the Monkey Motto?
A. “Always bet on stupid, unless crazy is available. Then, bet on crazy!”
Q. Why do some of the questions have dates and others don’t?
A. If we saved the entire newspaper page, it has the date on it. So, we use it. But, if we just cut out that specific news article, it doesn’t have a date on it. Our bad.
Q. Just curious about why the countries are not listed in alphabetical order on the Stay Informed page?
A. The game is currently only available in English so those countries are listed first. We are planning on publishing it in several languages after our trial run.
Q. Do you have copies of the stories?
A. Yes, they are stored in their orignal form in a secured vault. We bring them out once a year, on International Monkey Day, and parade them down the street.
